You Are More Than This

Sunday night, I had a dream that has stayed with me all week.

I'm not here to convince you what dreams mean. I think they can come from many places. Sometimes they're simply our brains sorting through life's challenges. Sometimes they feel like messages from our inner wisdom. And sometimes…well, they feel like something we can't quite explain.

In my dream, I was lying on the floor talking to a cat about how I didn't want to do the parts of my job that involved sales and marketing. I remember saying maybe I should get a part-time job than keep doing the work that felt uncomfortable.

Then someone I recognized as my boss walked into the room. Looking back, I'm certain she represented my higher self.

She looked at me and simply said,

"You are more than this. I expect more from you."

Later in the dream, another presence—someone who seemed to radiate an otherworldly calm—looked at me and said,

"You are made up of the divine, heart, and humility."

I woke up wondering what, exactly, my subconscious was trying to tell me.

The more I reflected on it, the more I realized the dream wasn't really about sales and marketing.

It was about following my path...my purpose.

The Work Before the Work

I love speaking. I love coaching. I love helping women discover that they're worthy of creating lives that feel authentic and fulfilling.

What I don't always love is everything required to make that possible.

The networking.

The marketing.

The emails.

The proposals.

The follow-up.

The uncertainty.

The truth is, the work surrounding our purpose is often harder than the purpose itself.

And I don't think that's just true for entrepreneurs.

It's true for every woman who's trying to build a life she loves.

Maybe you know you need to prioritize your health, but finding time feels impossible.

Maybe you've been dreaming about changing careers but haven't updated your résumé.

Maybe you know it's time to set a boundary, have a difficult conversation, or ask for help.

You know what needs to happen.

You just don't enjoy the work that comes before the breakthrough.

Your Higher Self Already Knows

One of the beautiful things about midlife is that we've accumulated enough life experience to recognize our own patterns.

Deep down, most of us already know what needs to change.

We don't necessarily need more information.

We need permission.

Permission to stop settling.

Permission to disappoint people.

Permission to try something new.

Permission to rest.

Permission to dream bigger.

Permission to keep going, even when the journey feels uncomfortable.

When I heard, "You are more than this," I didn't experience it as criticism.

I experienced it as love.

The kind of love that refuses to let us shrink into lives that are smaller than we're capable of living.

Resilience Isn't About Having It All Figured Out

People often think resilience means pushing harder or pretending everything is okay.

I see it differently.

Resilience is choosing to take the next right step even when you don't feel like it.

It's honoring your well-being while continuing to grow.

It's recognizing that discomfort doesn't necessarily mean you're on the wrong path.

Sometimes it means you're becoming the person you've always been capable of being.

The life you desire isn't built in one giant leap.

It's created through hundreds of intentional choices that often ask us to step beyond what feels comfortable.

And maybe that's exactly what growth has always looked like.

A Question for You

If your higher self sat down across from you today, what would she lovingly remind you of?

What dream have you been postponing?

What conversation have you been avoiding?

What part of yourself have you been keeping small?

Whatever your answer, I hope you'll remember this:

You are worthy of the life you desire. A fulfilling life isn't found by chance. It's created one intentional choice at a time.

And if your heart has been whispering, "Keep going," perhaps this is the reminder you needed today.
